A Writer in Distress

Mort Rainey, played by Johnny Depp, is a reclusive writer grappling with a painful divorce and writer's block. While hiding away in his remote lake house, he encounters a menacing stranger named John Shooter, portrayed by John Turturro. Shooter accuses Mort of stealing his story, leading to a psychological cat-and-mouse game. As Mort’s paranoia grows, he starts questioning his sanity, culminating in a battle of wills that reveals deeper truths about identity and creativity. The film, adapted from a Stephen King novella, combines suspense with introspection but struggles to maintain a steady pace and coherence.
