A Stormy Rescue Turns Dangerous

The plot follows Mason, played by Jason Statham, who is living in exile on a remote island. His seclusion is abruptly interrupted when he rescues a young girl named Jesse from a fierce storm. This act of kindness spirals into a chain of events that thrusts him back into the dangerous world he has tried to escape. As enemies from his past surface, Mason must navigate threats not only to his own life but also to the girl he’s come to protect. The setup promises high stakes and thrilling confrontations but often loses its momentum amid predictable twists and gaps in logic.

Familiar Faces, Underused Talents

Jason Statham delivers his usual tough-guy performance as Mason but doesn't stretch far beyond his established persona. Bodhi Rae Breathnach as Jesse occasionally shines with a mix of vulnerability and strength, but her character feels underwritten. Naomi Ackie as Roberta contributes a solid supporting role, although her character's potential for depth is largely unexplored. The ensemble, including veterans like Bill Nighy and Harriet Walter, is largely wasted on a script that doesn’t give them much room to maneuver, leaving performances that feel more like missed opportunities than standouts.

The visual style is slick, with some well-executed action sequences, particularly during the storm scenes. The cinematography captures the isolation of the island effectively, but the editing could have tightened the storyline, avoiding the lengthy segues that detract from the film's urgency.
