The visual style employs stark contrasts between the empty cityscapes and the eerie tension of Neville’s encounters with mutants. Lawrence uses lighting and shadows to amplify the film's suspense, making the audience feel Neville's isolation. However, some CGI effects haven’t aged well, which can detract from the immersion. Still, the cinematography captures the haunting beauty of a ruined New York, blending realistic environments with a dystopian feel that aligns well with the story.
